Update!

Loyal readers,
a long overdue blog post awaits you in the forthcoming lines on this page. take a deep sigh of relief, my faithful reader, the wait is finally over. For fun, i'll blame Lindsay for the 5 month delay between entries. And since she doesn't know the password to the blog, she can't really do anything about what i'm writing.

Since the last entry, a lot has happened in Alex's life. He has turned into a complete sponge, absorbing everything he sees and everything he hears. The proof of absorption is in his ever expanding vocabulary, which splits time being both impressive and hilarious.

In accordance with this transformation, he turned 2 years old on April 16th. we had the standard-issue suburban birthday party for him, complete with bounce house and party favors. our bounce house, however, was in the shape of a monster truck. what's up now, sugarland?

Other than that - we have just been settled into a pretty good routine. one of our favorite things to do is to take family trips to the zoo, which we try to do every few weeks:

No, thats not a real monkey.

Alex and Mommy watching the giraffes..

In non-Alex related news, your resident head blogger went on a fantastic canoe/fishing/camping trip to the Devil's River in south Texas near the Mexican border. It didn't suck:

The trip was in celebration of my graduation from business school... it was a great trip; a great way to celebrate the end of school.

thats all for now... hopefully it won't be 5 months before my next post. hope everyone is doing great.

love,

New Videos!

Hello everyone...

Please enjoy videos of 2 of Alex's better tricks for your enjoyment...

First, Alex and Lindsay doing our family cheer, "Whoooa Bhatia!"
And how bout a big WHOA BHATIA for this blog, who now sports 7 (count em, SEVEN) followers. Boom. Welcome, Raj!

Second, I taught Alex to flex his muscles and then kiss his biceps... He's almost got it, but he kisses his fists instead. Either way, its gotta be intimidating at daycare...

Happy New Year to everyone.

Love,

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! We hope everyone is having a great holiday season. Please enjoy a couple of recent wintery/christmasy shots of the kids...

Alex saw snow, or "no" as he called it, for the first time in his life about 2 weeks ago when we were surprised with snowfall. He enjoyed playing with the snow in his hands until he realized how cold it is...

For several days after it melted, Alex would go back to the few places in the yard it actually accumulated looking for it again... "more no? more no?"

Sometimes ignored, but certainly never forgotten, Lua is doing great and is a great big sister to Alex. She endures tail-pullings and one-sided wrestling matches with Alex on a daily basis, and takes it all in stride. Here she is helping us decorate the Christmas tree:

Happy Holidays everyone!

VIDEO!

Lookout. This blog just went Version 2.0 all over you, and you weren't even prepared for it. We are unleashing upon you, loyal reader, the fruits of discovering that blogger.com supports video uploading, so you can sit back and be entertained with videos of Alex unknowingly getting filmed doing things he will later wish he hadn't done (or at least i hadn't filmed).

As a test, i've uploaded a short video from the other day where he ran around chasing Lua for nearly an hour screaming "PUPPY! PUPPY!" and laughing hysterically. it was pretty funny, especially considering the fact that he demanded to wear 3 bibs throughout the whole thing. SOMEONE didn't get the video camera out in time to get a good highlight of it, but you should get the idea from this...

Stay tuned for more...

Long-awaited update...

Greetings all... its been months since i've posted anything so here's an update on Alex aside from what you see in the pictures.

Talking: Alex's vocabulary is growing almost every day now. New words he's saying now are "fast", "truck" (which covers all vehicles, motorized or otherwise), "all done!", and his favorite "outside!". Also, he used to say "uh oh!" all the time, usually for no reason, so i would respond to him, "uh oh what?"....that has led to him abandoning "uh oh" in favor of just "uh oh whaaa". Alex is also very into animal noises, and can tell you what a cat, monkey, elephant, cow, and (of course) a tiger says. Tigers have been an integral part of his childhood thus far, just as i planned... Here he is trying on his halloween costume (and getting ready for game day):

He's also developed a keen understanding of the game of football. The above picture was taken right after Florida scored against LSU, and Alex (correctly) thought there was offensive pass interference, which wasn't called.

Aside from the vocabulary, Alex is growing up in a lot of ways. He's eating with utensils now, admittedly though with varying levels of success...

As for the non-Alex members of the household, we are all doing well, just trying to keep up with the little guy. All of us except for Lua, who generally avoids him as one of Alex's current favorite activities is to terrorize her by pulling on her tail and ears...

Hope all 6 of you who read this are doing well!

Alex's New Game

Greetings everybody... just thought i would share a picture of Alex playing his new favorite game, "Save your money quick before Obama takes it to bail out a retired union worker!"

Much like real life savings accounts, and much to Alex's dismay, the piggy bank pays no interest.
